Our spacious house can sleep up to 8 persons although our minimum occupancy is two, (we also offer a couples discount in lower seasons.)
The house has three double (1 with a King sized bed & en-suite shower room) and one twin bedrooms.
A nice feature of the house is that it has two lounges, allowing the whole family to relax together or in groups.
You’ll love using the kitchen at Knockinaam House, it is airy, spacious, and filled with all the equipment you’d expect from a good quality self-catering holiday home, including Cooker, Fridge, Freezer, Dishwasher, Microwave, Washing machine and Tumble Dryer, as well as all the tableware, cutlery and kitchen utensils, to make catering for your party easy.
There's nothing better than opening the French doors from the dining hall and eating al-fresco on the paved seating area, and enjoying the tranquillity of the coastal rural location. Simply chilling with a glass of your favourite tipple and watching the sunset go down or watching the antics of the wildlife is a magical experience.
Knowing that the children can run and play wild in the 3 acres of grounds surrounding the house, and enjoy the freedom to explore and let their imaginations run wild, whilst knowing they are safe is amazing.
Of course if you would rather eat out, their are lots of local restaurants, and pubs, all supplying a wonderful array of different foods, to suit every culinary taste in the surrounding area.
After a busy day exploring, what better than to chill out and relax

Shopping
The local shops in Portpatrick are a few minutes drive, or a 15 minute bike ride, from Knockinaam House.
The nearest larger supermarkets are in Stranraer, about 15 minutes drive away.
If you choose to order your groceries online, please speak to us prior to doing so, as some companies have problems with deliveries. We will help if we can.
Heating and Fuel
Knockinaam House, is situated in a the mild climate of South West Scotland, an area which is kept warm by the Gulf Stream running close by.
So most of the days are balmy and warm, however there may also be days where it is a little chilly too, but rest assured you will be kept warm at Knockinaam House all year round.
The house benefits from oil central heating throughout, and for that real cosy feeling there is an open fireplace in one of the lounges.
All the heating costs and electricity are included in the rental of the property.
Family Holidays in Wigtownshire
The local area has so much to offer – a lovely climate, glorious beaches, stunning scenery and fresh air by the load. There are loads of activities for the family, and a lot of them on our doorstep and free to explore too. The Gulf Stream washes our shores, so the climate has a tendency to be mild all year round – look out for the palm trees as you travel about!
Knockinaam House is 5 minutes drive to Portpatrick and less than 30 minutes’ drive to the Mull of Galloway, and the Lighthouse, Scotland’s most southerly point.

Get down to the old fishing village of Portpatrick and try your hand at sea fishing or ask about freshwater fishing permits, fishing boat trips are also available locally.
Birds and Wildlife
If nature watching and wildlife are your interest then you will not be disappointed in our area. The RSPB has several reserves locally and a wide variety of species can be seen from Peregrene falcons to puffins, and everything in between. The area is also visited regularly by pods of porpoise and the occasional basking shark.

Walking, Swimming, Beachcombing
There are so many lovely walks in the area you could spend a lifetime exploring them. We are lucky to have every kind of sea shore you could want, too, from beautiful sandy beaches, to spectacular cliffs and pretty coves. You can even visit the fish pond at Port Logan, an amazing place. The sea is safe to swim in around the area, but if it is too cold you can always visit the Swimming pool in Stranraer.
Places to Eat and Drink
We are very lucky to have a wide range of culinary experiences on our doorstep and within a 15 mile radius. You can sample extraordinary shellfish, fresh fish, all caught locally in the coastal restaurants. We also have restaurants offering fine dining experiences, if you fancy something a little special.
Along with a whole host of friendly coffee shops and cafes, and of course the best bar meals are all available to sample locally.

From Stranraer follow A77 heading for Portpatrick, Turn left onto the B7042 (follow the green signs for Knockinaam Lodge Hotel)
At the T junction turn left (following the green signs for Knockinaam Lodge Hotel). Take the next right at the wood (again following the green signs for KLH)
